Afilias expands market leadership with acquisition of RegistryPro
Chicago, IL, January 17, 2012 — Afilias Limited, the ICANN-designated registry operator for the .INFO top level domain (TLD) and a global provider of domain registry services, announced on January 17, 2012 that it has acquired Registry Services Corporation (d.b.a. RegistryPRO), the ICANN-designated operator of the .PRO TLD, from Hostway Corporation.
Below is a short FAQ that will help answer your questions.
Will.PRO be moved onto Afilias systems?
Yes. A migration plan is being put into place. Current .PRO customers will see no issues; the platform change will be invisible to them (and as easy as possible for registrars.) Details will be announced to registrars at a future date (to be determined) when plans are finalized.
Will .pro be liberalized (meaning .pro credentials are no longer required)?
RegistryPRO will continue business as usual for the .PRO domain, including all registration provisos as outlined in its ICANN contract.
Does the deal include the zip.pro service?
No, the zip.pro service is not included in this deal. That service remains with Hostway Corporation's subsidiary, Affinity.
What was the purchase price for RegsitryPRO?
As a privately held company, Afilias does not disclose financial transaction information.
